OpenPhone is an all-in-one phone system that combines calls and texts as well as contact management into a single application that works across devices. You can use your existing number or get a new number. The Open Phone communication solution is packaged in the form of 2 plans for small and growing companies and a third plan for large enterprises. Along with inbound and outbound calling, it offers a range of communication and productivity features such as voicemail transcription, call recording, email and CRM integration, etc.
Like OpenPhone, Zoom Phone is a business communication solution based on VoIP technology with services accessible through desktop and mobile devices. Zoom Phone users can make and receive voice, video and conference calls, exchange messages and more to help improve internal and external communication. Incoming calls can be routed through an IVR menu. All calls can be monitored live or recorded. Further, Zoom Phone also offers voicemail transcriptions. These services are bundled into three monthly plans and are available in 47 countries.
The OpenPhone Standard plan priced at $13 per user per month is designed to jumpstart team communication. It includes a range of basic phone features such as unlimited calling within the USA and Canada, shared contacts, call recording, etc.
The OpenPhone Premium plan priced at $20 per user per month is designed for business teams seeking a communication solution with simpler integrations and more collaborative features. In addition to the features included in the Standard plan, it includes advanced IVR, group calling, analytics and many other features.
Zoom Phone plans are cheaper than OpenPhone but require an annual commitment.
The Zoom Phone Metered Pack costs businesses $120 per user per year. It offers unlimited international calls in the USA and Canada and metered calls to other destinations. Add-on features include IVR menus for inbound call routing, voicemail transcriptions and call recordings.
Businesses can subscribe to the Zoom Phone Unlimited Pack with $180 per user per year. This includes all the features of the Metered pack as well as unlimited calls to numbers in the USA and Canada. You can purchase an add-on pack to include calls to 19 other countries.
OpenPhone services can be accessed via the web browser or desktop application for Windows and Mac devices.
Both OpenPhone and Zoom Phone users can make and receive calls through a deskphone or desktop app.
Calls can be made and received via android and iOS applications.
Like OpenPhone, Zoom Phone has a free app that can be downloaded and installed on Android and iOS devices to make and receive calls.
In the Standard plan, basic IVR functions route callers to internal and external phone numbers based on the option selected. If the caller does not select a menu option, the menu is repeated.
In the Premium plan, advanced IVR routes calls to internal or external numbers or voicemail accounts. Action to be taken if the caller does not select a menu option can be customized.
As with OpenPhone, incoming calls to a Zoom Phone number can be routed through custom IVR menus or auto attendants.
You can set up a voicemail greeting through the OpenPhone desktop or mobile app.
1. Login as admin and navigate to My Phone Numbers
2. Select the phone number for which a greeting is to be set
3. Scroll to the voicemail section and select Change
4. Type the text to be converted to speech mode or upload a recorded greeting
Both OpenPhone and Zoom Phone users can customize greetings but Zoom Phone does not have the ability to convert text to speech.
Incoming calls can be greeted with messages from the Zoom Phone audio library or custom messages uploaded by the subscriber.
1. Login in as admin.
2. Click on settings and then on Call Handling.
3. Upload a recorded message or pick from the default options available in the audio library.
OpenPhone users can shorten response time by following up on missed calls, voicemails or texts with predefined messages. You can also schedule text message delivery for later on. Admin account holders get full control over all users and phone numbers.
In addition to the basic features, OpenPhone Premium plan users can redirect calls internally or externally. Call monitoring and call whispering features will also be introduced soon. Administrators can get insights into how accounts are being used to ensure agents can be given the support required.
While OpenPhone does not offer call monitoring services, Zoom Phone services include call monitoring in all plans. Supervisors can listen to any incoming or outgoing call, speak to company agents, join a call or take over calls from agents on shared line groups, common phones or call queues.
All incoming and outgoing calls can be automatically recorded. Recording can also be controlled manually for each call.
Call recording is common to OpenPhone and Zoom Phone plans. Irrespective of the interface chosen to make and receive calls, Zoom Phone allows businesses to monitor all calls for quality control purposes. Supervisors can listen to live calls, coach agents through a conversation, join conversations or take over calls. Calls can be monitored only by one agent at a time. Calls can also be recorded for later analysis. This feature is disabled by default but can be manually controlled for all calls.
Calls and messages to international numbers other than USA and Canada are billed at a per minute rate based on the destination. For example, calls to Australia are billed at $0.05 per minute while calls to central Africa are billed at $1.23 per minute.
Unlike OpenPhone, Zoom Phone does not include calling to any locations in its plans.
Zoom Phone Metered plan outgoing calls are billed as per usage. Calls can be made to 150+ countries. Billing rates are based on the location being called and whether the number being called is a landline or mobile number. Calls to landline numbers in France are billed at a $0.0329 per minute rate while calls to mobile numbers are billed at a $0.126 per minute rate.
The Zoom Phone Unlimited plan subscribers can make unlimited calls to numbers in USA and Canada. This can be expanded to 19 other countries by purchasing an add-on pack. Other calls are billed as per usage.
You can use your email address to sign up for an OpenPhone account on the web browser. Once activated, you can define user roles from the dashboard. While OpenPhone does not support desk phones, you can download the application for all smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops or make and receive calls from the web browser extension.
Like OpenPhone, a Zoom Phone account is quick and easy to create. This process can be completed online by applying for a new phone number or porting an existing number. Once the account is created, Zoom Phone services can be accessed through Zoom Phone applications for desktop or mobile devices and certain IP deskphones. These deskphones too can be purchased online through the Zoom Phone website.
