Designed on the same technology powering Dialpad, Zoom Phone is a cloud-based communication platform designed to help businesses improve communication within the team and with customers. It is available in 47 countries and can be accessed on mobile and desktop devices. Along with voice and video calling, key Zoom Phone services include conference calling, messaging, IVR-based call routing and voicemail transcriptions. For quality control purposes, calls can be monitored live or recorded for later analysis. Zoom Phone can be integrated with select applications. These features are available in 3 monthly plans.
The Dialpad Standard pack is priced at $15 per user per month. This is inclusive of one business number per user, unlimited calling and messaging to select destinations, contact syncing, AI-powered call and voicemail transcriptions, web/ chat support and Google Workspace & Microsoft 365 integrations.
The Dialpad Pro pack is priced at $25 per user per month. Along with basic features expected from a VoIP service provider, this advanced pack also offers additional local/international numbers, hold queues, integration with more apps and APIs and 24/7 live support.
Unlike Dialpad that offers plans with monthly subscription, Zoom Phone requires an annual commitment.
The basic business communication plan by Zoom Phone is the Metered pack priced at $120 per user per year. This includes unlimited internal calls within the USA and Canada and metered calls to other locations as well as voicemail transcriptions, IVR call routing and call recording.
The Zoom Phone Unlimited Pack is priced at $180 per user per year. It is inclusive of all the Metered plan features as well as calls to external numbers in the USA and Canada. Calls to 19 other countries can be included in the pack by purchasing an add-on pack.
OpenPhone services can be accessed via the web browser or desktop application for Windows and Mac devices.
Both OpenPhone and Zoom Phone users can make and receive calls through a deskphone or desktop app.
Calls can be made and received via android and iOS applications.
Like OpenPhone, Zoom Phone has a free app that can be downloaded and installed on Android and iOS devices to make and receive calls.
In the Standard plan, basic IVR functions route callers to internal and external phone numbers based on the option selected. If the caller does not select a menu option, the menu is repeated.
In the Premium plan, advanced IVR routes calls to internal or external numbers or voicemail accounts. Action to be taken if the caller does not select a menu option can be customized.
As with OpenPhone, incoming calls to a Zoom Phone number can be routed through custom IVR menus or auto attendants.
You can set up a voicemail greeting through the OpenPhone desktop or mobile app.
1. Login as admin and navigate to My Phone Numbers
2. Select the phone number for which a greeting is to be set
3. Scroll to the voicemail section and select Change
4. Type the text to be converted to speech mode or upload a recorded greeting
Both OpenPhone and Zoom Phone users can customize greetings but Zoom Phone does not have the ability to convert text to speech.
Incoming calls can be greeted with messages from the Zoom Phone audio library or custom messages uploaded by the subscriber.

All incoming and outgoing calls can be automatically recorded. Recording can also be controlled manually for each call.
Call recording is common to OpenPhone and Zoom Phone plans. Irrespective of the interface chosen to make and receive calls, Zoom Phone allows businesses to monitor all calls for quality control purposes. Supervisors can listen to live calls, coach agents through a conversation, join conversations or take over calls. Calls can be monitored only by one agent at a time. Calls can also be recorded for later analysis. This feature is disabled by default but can be manually controlled for all calls.
Dialpad offers unlimited calling in the USA, Canada and your country for all plans. Calls to other destinations are billed at a per minute country-specific rate. For example, calls to Australia are billed at $0.03 per minute while calls to Vanuatu are billed at $1.20 per minute.
Unlike OpenPhone, Zoom Phone does not include calling to any locations in its plans.
Zoom Phone Metered plan outgoing calls are billed as per usage. Calls can be made to 150+ countries. Billing rates are based on the location being called and whether the number being called is a landline or mobile number. Calls to landline numbers in France are billed at a $0.0329 per minute rate while calls to mobile numbers are billed at a $0.126 per minute rate.
The Zoom Phone Unlimited plan subscribers can make unlimited calls to numbers in USA and Canada. This can be expanded to 19 other countries by purchasing an add-on pack. Other calls are billed as per usage.
You can create an account with Dialpad from the website and use the Dialpad services by downloading the application to your smartphone or desktop. This account can be set up with a new number or you can port your existing number. Dialpad also supports certain IP desk and room phones by Obihai, Polycom and Yealink. These devices and adapters can be purchased from the admin settings on your Dialpad dashboard or from brand retailers.
As with Dialpad, you can create a Zoom Phone account online on the Zoom Phone website. Accounts can be created with existing numbers ported to the Zoom Phone system or with new numbers. Zoom Phone services can then be accessed through applications for mobile and desktop devices or through IP deskphones. These deskphones too can be ordered on the Zoom Phone website.
