#1 Manage Your Office Calls
Deskphone support missing with Open Phone plans
The Dialpad application is available for MAC and Windows devices. Alternatively, you can use the web interface or a deskphone configured for Dialpad.
Like Dialpad, OpenPhone subscribers can use a desktop application or a web browser to access their accounts.
#2 Manage Your Calls On The Go
Easy access through apps for Android and iOS devices
Dialpad users can stay connected to their communication platform with apps for Android and iOS devices.
Dialpad and OpenPhone have similar mobile connectivity. A free smartphone app for Android and iOS devices can be used to handle incoming and outgoing calls.
#3 Auto-attendant
At-par IVR call routing options
Both Dialpad plans use an Interactive Voice Response system to route incoming calls. This menu can be set up in 10 languages. Based on the caller’s inputs, the call can be routed to different ring groups. Ring groups for Standard plan users can have 3 numbers while ring groups for Pro plan users can have 10 numbers.
Like Dialpad, OpenPhone allows subscribers to customize IVR menus to route incoming calls to extensions or external numbers. The menu is repeated if the caller does not take any action. Upgrading to the Premium plan also allows calls to be routed to voicemail accounts. In this case if the caller does not select a menu option, different actions can be taken depending on the time, etc.
#4 Greetings Management
2 cloud-based communication platforms that offer customized greetings
With Dialpad, businesses can customize greetings rather than use default messages. These messages can be recorded online on the web browser or Dialpad app.
1. Go to the Settings menu.
2. Click on Call Handling and Voicemail.
3. Record a new custom greeting.
Or
Uploaded a recording in MP3 format.
Customized greetings are a common feature with Dialpad and OpenPhone plans.
Voicemail greetings can be set up from the OpenPhone mobile/desktop app.
Step 1: Login as admin.
Step 2: Go to My Phone Numbers and select a phone number.
Step 3: Scroll down to the voicemail settings and click on Change.
Step 4: Upload a recorded message or type text and choose the text to speech option.
#5 Call Tracking
Dialpad gains advantage for better call monitoring capabilities
With Dialpad, supervisors can monitor calls made through agent desktops as well as smartphone apps. They can listen to live calls without either party knowing, coach agents during a call, join a call and convert it to a conference call or take over a call. Calls that cannot be monitored when live, can be recorded. Dialpad also gives you the option to read voicemail transcriptions.
Unlike Dialpad, live call monitoring features are not included in OpenPhone plans.
All OpenPhone subscriptions are inclusive of template message responses. When following up on calls and voicemails or responding to texts, agents can quickly customize these templates to shorten the response time. Message delivery can also be scheduled to match requirements. Premium plan subscribers can also redirect calls when required.
Administrators get control and visibility over all user accounts. The Premium plan also includes reports on these accounts to help administrators monitor account usage. Other call monitoring services may be soon introduced.
#6 Call Recording
Both VoIP services include call recording
Dialpad gives you access to a call recording feature that can be automated or controlled manually. All incoming and outgoing calls including conference calls linked to the Dialpad mobile or desktop app can be recorded.
As with Dialpad, automatic call recording is available to all OpenPhone subscribers. This may be manually controlled if required.
#7 Call Billing
Either way, call billing depends on where your audience is
Dialpad users enjoy unlimited free calling in their own country, USA and Canada. Calls to other locations such as Australia, Bahrein, India, etc. are billed at a per minute rate. For example, calls to India are billed at a $0.05 per minute rate.
Dialpad and OpenPhone bill international calls at similar additional rates.
Businesses are billed additionally for calls to numbers outside the USA and Canada. Call rates are dependent on the type of number and location. For example, calls to Indian mobile numbers are billed at $0.07 per minute while calls to landline numbers in major cities are billed at $0.09 per minute.
