In terms of call monitoring, a Basic plan subscription gives agents the ability to forward/ transfer calls to other agents or supervisors. They can also convert calls to conference calls between themselves, customers and supervisors. Email notifications for voicemails reduce the risk of missing out on these messages. Supervisors have the added ability to access call log reports and exercise moderator controls.
Plus plan subscribers can access all the Basic plan features as well as voicemail transcriptions. These transcribed messages are accessible through email and help agents prioritize how to respond to them.
Detailed call analytics are available to Pro plan subscribers. This includes details such as call duration, direction, etc. on all new and returning calls. This information can help identify top performers and the busiest hours of the day. Calls can also be recorded and studied at a later date. In addition, they can access all the features of the Basic and Plus plans.
Calls made and received by Grasshopper subscribers cannot be recorded.
The absence of call recording in Grasshopper plans puts it at a disadvantage when compared to Phone.com.
The Basic and Plus plans do not include call recording but they can access this feature by paying an additional $8 monthly fee. The Pro plan is inclusive of call recording.
Grasshopper plans include unlimited calls to numbers in most parts of the USA and Canada. Other calls are billed on usage at per-minute rates. For example, calls to German numbers with a 491 country code are billed at 66¢.
For calls outside the USA and Canada, Grasshopper and Phone.com follow similar billing rates.
Unlimited calls to numbers in the USA and parts of Canada are included in the Plus and Pro plans. The Basic plan includes only 500 minutes of calls to these locations. Beyond this, calls are billed at a $0.039 per minute rate. All Phone.com subscribers can make international calls and these calls are billed at location-specific per-minute rates.
Grasshopper accounts can be set up online by your existing phone number. Alternatively, you can get a new number during the sign-up process. Once accounts are activated, subscribers can make and receive calls from smartphone and desktop apps. desk phones can also be used by asking Grasshopper customer service representatives to activate and register the required calling card feature.
Like Grasshopper, a Phone.com account can be set up from the desktop app or web browser. Next, administrators can define user roles and manage users from the dashboard. Agents can make and receive calls from smartphone or desktop applications or browser extensions. Phone.com also gives agents the choice to use pre-provisioned, ready-to-use VoIP phones to make and receive calls. These devices are available from the Phone.com control panel or you could use your existing device if it supports VoIP calling.
